The T-Con, or timing control board, converts the video signal into the precise row and column pulses the LCD panel needs. A failing T-Con typically produces vertical or horizontal bands, a washed out picture, ghosting, or a completely blank screen with backlight still on.
Because the T-Con is programmed for a specific panel, the replacement must carry the same board number and, where applicable, the same panel code.
If the picture is distorted but the menus are also distorted, suspect the T-Con. If only the menus look wrong, the problem is usually upstream on the main board.
